From the
editor's desk:
Welcome to the
January 2007 Edition of the Sound
Exposure Photography Club's Newsletter. As you can see, this month we will be viewing all
of the great images from the Scavenger Hunt held in October. A must see show!
We hope to
bring the membership through these pages, a treasury of ideas, direction,
artwork, offerings and support. ~
Comments:
Wow! Is it cold or what? I took my cameras on a walk
on the beach yesterday and down to the harbor. There were ice sheets everywhere.
You could hear this weird crunching noise as boats made their way to the sound.
A friend of ours hit some black ice, she said it looked like the pavement was
simply wet. Her car went off the road, rolled down and embankment and landed
upside down. She hung in her seat belt and couldn't get out. People tried to
help her, but couldn't get to the car because the hillside was just too steep.
She managed to finally unhook her belt and extricate herself. She is doing fine
but is quite sore from her ordeal. Please be careful out there.
Remember we
are a community of photographers, and support is at the very heart of our club.
So do not hesitate to provide your suggestions on how to make our site,
newsletter or any of our other activities better for all of our member
photographers.

Techniques, Tips and Insights:
EXIF
Data can be confused with META Data. Here are the basics. EXIF is data embedded
with your image at the time it was shot. Data such as exposure, flash info,
date, GPS, Tone adjustments, biasing and a bunch more data sets are all added
at the time you push the trigger. Many of the top camera models allow the user
to edit this data to suit one's own needs.

Well that's it
for now. I
hope you've enjoyed reading through your newsletter. I would like to reiterate
this is your club and your
newsletter. If you have any ideas to make your club a better community, please
contact any of the board members.
Photography
has always been and remains multifaceted; it tells us stories of life providing
insight, pleasure and pain. I am always amazed at the ease in which photography
can effect emotion and connection.
It is written,
that on July 4th in 1862, as a result of a controversy surrounding copyright
issues during a recent art show, the French Court declared that photography be
legally accepted as fine art.
I want to
thank the French for their marvelous insight.
We look forward to hearing from you.
